Thinking About Art

"We become what we think about all day long"

~Emerson

I ran across this quote today and thought I would share it with you. I pondered the message for a bit and asked myself the question, “What do I think about during the day?”

My thoughts seem flow in and out like the waves on the beach. I am always thinking about my family and wanting them to feel loved and nurtured. I also have very meandering thoughts along with detailed mental checklists of things I need to accomplish throughout the day. Thoughts of family, home, school activities, homework, friends, tonight’s dinner, the rug in the living room really needs to be vacuumed…they ramble on and on.

However, along with these thoughts, I think about art, a lot! I think about what it means to me and what it may mean to you. What will we become if we think about it all day long?

I think about how life, art and people are woven together in the most beautiful ways. And how this is all just waiting to be realized through our art.

I think of these things while teaching or creating classes, I'm often thinking of what I can share that will inspire you as an artist. Concepts for content, techniques, and materials are all part of how I develop a class, but, on a deeper level, my intention is to encourage you to create art.

I want you to believe that everything you need to create deeply personal art is inside of you. Your creative voice and artistic point of view come from a truly sacred place. I want to honor that place of true creativity as I create my classes.

So, wherever you are on your artistic journey, I would love to help guide and encourage you to create art that only you can create. To enhance your skills and live a truly creative life. Because you deserve it!

Here’s to thinking beautiful and creative thoughts all day!
