The Storyteller Card Series

The Storyteller Card Series | Free New Art Series

A few years ago, I was cleaning up my studio and sorting through bits and pieces of paper, old art, and other little treasures when the idea of creating "short story collages" came to mind—a place where I could start small art pieces with meaning that would lead to something more. A place where I could capture an idea or memory before it floated away, never to return. Not only are they fun to create but I have also found so many hidden gems in each one that would be the spark I needed to move forward with my creative ideas.

Ideas for many of my classes, inspiration boards, and color palettes have started with my Storyteller Cards. Sometimes, I put them all on the wall when I need a fresh idea, but I mainly keep them bundled together on my workbench for quick inspiration.

They will become beautiful, unique small art stories that are as individual as you are, little art pieces that have the potential to guide your creative process.

I thought it would be fun to create the FREE Storyteller Cards Series with you.

Over the next few weeks, during my Thursday FB Live, we will create a set of Storyteller Cards together. Starting Thursday, September 1st, at 12:30 EST.

And, if you're not on Facebook, it is not a problem; the videos are uploaded to Youtube.

You have a few days before we begin, so start pulling your treasures together. You can find everything you need in your art space and around your house. You don't need to buy anything special!

FIRST LIVE LESSON IS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST AT 12:30 EST

Here are a few supply ideas:

  1. Paper cut to 3x5 ( card stock weight like watercolor paper or mixed media paper, postcards, index cards, or old artwork cut to size.

  2. Matte medium or a glue stick

  3. Bits and pieces of paper from your stash (vintage paper, old wallpaper, wrapping paper, old sketches, anything will do)

  4. Old photos - I like to make copies of my vintage photos.

  5. Embroidery Thread & Needle

  6. Artist Tape

  7. Stapler

  8. Markers or paint pens

  9. Colored pencils

  10. Paints

  11. White and Clear Gesso

  12. Things from nature: small twigs, dried or pressed flowers, leaves, feathers, and so on.

I have shared this art project in my live workshops, during the Holiday Cheer series, and in one of my online classes. Everyone loves it! And I hope you will too.

Please join me over the next few week to create your own, unique set of Storyteller Cards.
