Studio Moments No. 2

It was early November 2022, and I was sneaking in a mid-afternoon nap because I felt drained due to my habit of "over-committing" to many creative projects. I was just about to close my eyes, and suddenly there was a flash of an idea for a new class - it was the slightest glimmer of something that had possibilities. As you may have guessed, my nap was no longer in the picture.

I held the idea close for a long time and did my best to nurture it until I had the time and mental clarity to begin work. My vision was to create an artist's book where you can experiment, play, get messy, and be curious without focusing on the outcome—a rich archive of color, collages, florals, landscapes, marks, and textures to hold all your big beautiful ideas!

The class includes a series of short lessons encouraging you to pay close attention to what is important to you as you flush out artistic themes that are most important to you —resulting in art that reflects your voice as the artist.

Currently, my workbench is organized to begin filming the final segments of the class, and many bits and pieces have overflowed onto the dining room table as I try to figure out how to put it all together in a way that will make sense.

I have spent a lot of time reflecting on the lessons and, if necessary, reworking them until they're ready for the class. Every once in a while, the stars will align, and I get it down on the first try, and I must resist the urge to do cartwheels in my kitchen!!

New class details are coming very soon!
