From time to time I will write about life, art, and the things that spark my imagination. And, just in case you were wondering, I’m completely drawn to time-worn elements, theater, dance, music, flowers, and books. I’m captivated with the portrait and the challenge of this subject. I aspire to weave these elements together into my art and reveal who I am.
Another week has flown by like a flash, a week with too many things to do and places to be. However, I did find a little time to make art, read an amazing book - Education by Tara Westover - and provide "taxi" service to all of Olivia's events and teenage gatherings.
Whether you love classical literature, memoirs, mysteries, fairytales, or fiction, the creative possibilities are truly endless.
I'm so honored to be a guest artist again this year for Ivy Newport's beautiful Creative Network and present my latest class, Ladies of Literature. I hope you will join me as we walk alongside our favorite female characters and create beautiful art together.
"We become what we think about all day long"
I ran across this quote today and thought I would share it with you. I pondered the message for a bit and asked myself the question, “What do I think about during the day?”
My thoughts seem flow in and out like the waves on the beach. I am always thinking about my family and wanting them to feel loved and nurtured. I also have very meandering thoughts along with detailed mental checklists of things I need to accomplish throughout the day. Thoughts of family, home, school activities, homework, friends, tonight’s dinner, the rug in the living room really needs to be vacuumed…they ramble on and on.
However, along with these thoughts, I think about art, a lot! I think about what it means to me and what it may mean to you. What will we become if we think about it all day long?
I think about how life, art and people are woven together in the most beautiful ways. And how this is all just waiting to be realized through our art.
I think of these things while teaching or creating classes, I'm often thinking of what I can share that will inspire you as an artist. Concepts for content, techniques, and materials are all part of how I develop a class, but, on a deeper level, my intention is to encourage you to create art.
I want you to believe that everything you need to create deeply personal art is inside of you. Your creative voice and artistic point of view come from a truly sacred place. I want to honor that place of true creativity as I create my classes.
So, wherever you are on your artistic journey, I would love to help guide and encourage you to create art that only you can create. To enhance your skills and live a truly creative life. Because you deserve it!
Here’s to thinking beautiful and creative thoughts all day!
My intentions are to share my techniques, my philosophy about practice, and the beauty of the creative process. To share with you how I practice, how I see things, how I look at line, color, and form.Read More
